Writers around the globe stand in solidarity with Salman Rushdie and celebrate his tireless advocacy for the freedom of expression and the plight of imperiled writers around the globe. Join PEN America, The New York Public Library, and Penguin Random House as we gather with friends, supporters, readers, and members of the literary community to read from selected texts from Rushdie’s body of work. Readers include: Paul Auster, Reginald Dwayne Betts, Tina Brown, Kiran Desai, Andrea Elliott, Amanda Foreman, Roya Hakakian, A.M. Homes, Siri Hustvedt, Hari Kunzru, Colum McCann, Andrew Solomon, and Gay Talese (list in formation). Other partners include House of Speakeasy.
