Outside-In: The Social Brain, Culture, and the Self
"Plasticity and networks are today’s metaphors for the brain and mind. The idea that brains are plastic, made of dynamic networks, raises questions about the relation between physiology, selfhood, and social relations. Siri Hustvedt, Joseph LeDoux, and Jason Tougaw discuss social implications of recent brain research; artistic responses to theoretical neuroscience; and multidisciplinary circulation, convergence, and conflict surrounding questions about brain, self, and world. The panel discussion will be followed by a musical performance by So We Are, LeDoux’s musical duo with Colin Dempsey. Nancy K. Miller will moderate."
